At Embion, we believe in sustainable energy solutions for entrepreneurs. At a time when sustainability is no longer a choice but a necessity, we proudly partner with local initiatives such as CALorie Business to support businesses. One innovative solution we contribute to is the eHub. This is a platform in which companies within a certain area, such as the Castricummerwerf, work together to optimize their energy consumption and generation. Through this cooperation, entrepreneurs can make better use of the solar energy generated, absorb peaks and troughs in energy demand and even make joint choices about energy storage or feed-in. This prevents overloading the power grid and enables more efficient use of available energy.
As Embion we supply the energy management systems to the project in Castricum. These EMSs form the basis of the eHub. They enable companies to monitor their energy consumption in real-time and react automatically to current power prices. The Embion EMSs do this by storing energy during periods of overproduction so that it can be used later when demand increases, or by delivering excess energy back to the grid at times when rates are at their peak. Here, the Embion EMS controls the generators, consumers and storage systems, since we do not store energy ourselves.
The strength of the eHub lies in the collaboration behind it. By connecting different companies through one central platform, you ensure that peaks are better absorbed, the power grid remains stable and the risk of overload is reduced. In addition, decisions based on real-time data provide cost savings. We see the eHub as an innovative step toward sustainable energy management. This step is supported by CALorie Business, a foundation that assists entrepreneurs in Castricum to become more sustainable. Thanks to subsidies from the municipality and the province, the first 25 companies in the CAL municipality will receive a financial contribution of €1,600 for the installation of an EMS. Embion is also the developer of the eHub and therefore works closely with CALorie Business.
The integration of the Embion EMSs into the eHub is just the beginning. Looking to the future, these systems will be bundled into a Cluster Energy Management System (C-EMS). This will create a strong and collective network of entrepreneurs, and ensure that the energy infrastructure at business parks such as the Castricummerwerf is ready for tomorrow's challenges.
