Hospitality at Full Power

Embion EMS at Wollenbrand Lakehouse

At the charming Wollenbrand Lakehouse restaurant, the team wanted to provide guests with the best possible service. One of their wishes was to allow visitors to charge their electric cars during lunch or dinner. However, the restaurant soon ran into limitations. The contracted power capacity wasn’t always sufficient to meet the demand.

Limited power, smart ambition

The first thought was often: “Let’s just install solar panels.” But when the restaurant was closed, the panels still generated energy, and feeding it back into the public grid wasn’t allowed. This made it challenging to provide enough charging capacity without overloading the grid.

A smart solution

Together with Xandrion and Rexel Netherlands, Dion Bruinen’s team installed a complete system: the Embion EMS closely monitors the power consumption and distribution across the main and sub-distribution boards, the two Alfen charging stations, and the 17 kW PV installation. This way, the EMS ensures that the available power is distributed efficiently, allowing cars to charge without overloading the grid or incurring additional costs.

Technology working together

This project demonstrates what’s possible when intelligent energy management solutions and reliable hardware come together. The Embion EMS intelligently controls the system, while Xandrion and Dion Bruinen ensure expert installation. As a result, Wollenbrand Lakehouse now enjoys a future-proof charging and energy management setup, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their meal while their electric cars charge worry-free.
