Power from within at Van Haandel Metaal

Van Haandel Metaal in Erp is a true family business specializing in turning and milling aluminum and plastic. The growth of recent years, together with the electrification of the machinery, caused a substantial increase in energy demand. In early 2025, the company even reached the limit of contracted power, but an expansion with the grid operator proved impossible.

Instead of waiting, Van Haandel decided to take the lead itself. Together with W. Jansen Elektrotechniek and Cellpower, a Dutch battery solution was chosen: two powerful batteries, each with 261 kWh of storage capacity and 125 kW of power, placed next to the transformer room.

Always power, always control

The beating heart behind this solution is the Embion EMS. Our systemcontinuously monitors consumption and automatically jumps in when power peaks. At night, the batteries are recharged, fully automatically. This keeps production running, without the risk of penalties or interruptions.

In addition, the Embion EMS offers insight into real-time data, allowing Van Haandel to actively manage and further optimize energy consumption.

Dutch cooperation, sustainable security

The cooperation between Van Haandel, W. Jansen Elektrotechniek, Cellpower and Embion shows what is possible with Dutch knowledge and short lines of communication.

"We don't want to be dependent on solar energy or a grid that doesn't offer space," said Dennis van Haandel, the company's director.
